Itinerary

Upon your arrival at the airport in Hanoi, you will be greeted by our guide and driver who will assist you with your transfer to the hotel for check-in. The rest of the day will be free for you to spend at your leisure. Hanoi is a city rich in culture with both Chinese and French influences evident in its architecture and cuisine, offering plenty of opportunities for exploration. Dinner will be at your own expense. You will spend the night at the hotel in Hanoi.

After breakfast at your hotel, you will embark on a tour of Hanoi. First, you will visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, where Ho Chi Minh, the leader of the Vietnam Communist Party from 1951 until his death in 1969, rests in peace. You will also see his traditional stilt house to learn more about his life and career. Next, you will visit the One Pillar Pagoda, an important Buddhist temple that is considered one of Vietnam’s most iconic temples. Your tour will continue to the Temple of Literature, which was built in 1070 and is one of several Confucian temples in Vietnam dedicated to sages and scholars.

After visiting the temples, you will have lunch at a local restaurant and try some famous local dishes like Pho, Bun Cha, or Egg Coffee.

In the afternoon, you will go on a walking tour of Hanoi’s largest covered market, Dong Xuan. Along the market’s perimeter, you will see dozens of street vendors selling a wide variety of products from live seafood to exotic fruits and spices. Your local guide will provide you with insights into Vietnamese food culture, including details on ingredients and the historical background of popular northern dishes. As you walk through the Old Quarter’s bustling streets, you will try the famous Hanoi dish Banh Cuon at a local eatery. Skilled chefs will show you how this dish is prepared. You will wander past street stalls and quiet residential lanes, observing local life that has remained unchanged since Hanoi’s founding over 1000 years ago.

Your next two snack stops will be at outdoor barbeque stalls, where you will sit down with Hanoi locals and try various meat, vegetable, and bread specialties flame grilled over hot coals for extra flavor. For dessert, you will venture down a small alley to enjoy fresh fruit served in a cup, smothered with crushed ice and condensed milk – a local specialty not to be missed!

Afterward, you will transfer back to your hotel and spend the night there.

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transported to another captivating destination – the jewel in the north of Vietnam – Halong Bay. The journey will take you through the picturesque rice fields and mountains of the Red River Delta. Upon arrival at Halong Bay, you will realize why this area has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A tender boat will ferry you a short distance from the harbor to board the Junk Boat for a cruise among the many limestone karsts rising from the emerald water. Enjoy a delicious seafood lunch on board before the Tender takes you to visit a spectacular grotto filled with stalactites and stalagmites. During the trip, you can also swim in the warm waters of Halong Bay and kayak back from the beach to the floating island for a closer view of the bay and islands. In the late afternoon, the ship will drop anchor for an overnight stay on board.

Note: We suggest that you bring an overnight bag with you to pack for your Halong Bay trip so that you don’t have to carry all your luggage with you. After your trip, you will be returned to the same hotel in Hanoi where you can safely store your luggage.
